The Game

Take Todd's Adventure, add more depth and humor, better graphics, and music, and you've got something like NextGame 33.  It's a barrel of fun!  You must guide Matt Ape as he escapes from jail and wreaks havoc everywhere he goes.  Depending on what you do in the first board of the game, you'll get one of two different storylines that could easily be full games in themselves.  One takes you on a journey to find out what's really going on in your strange world, and the other is a Titanic parody of epic proportions.  Along the way, feel free to marvel at the sights, the sounds, and the humor that make up NG.

Behind the Scenes

I originally planned NextGame 33 to be the next Code Red.  Had I finished it, it would have been three times the size it sits at now.  The 33 means that the game is eternally 33% complete.  The first NG scenario was completed in only about a month.  Thinking that the other scenarios would take a month each to complete as well, I made up a small demo of the game in October.  However, my computer monitor, which had developed a terrible green tint over time, made it very hard for me to do graphics.  My mother soon began using the computer for work, leaving me little time to finish what I had started.  A couple of really addictive RPGs (Fallout 2 and Xenogears) set me back as well.  Then, in February, I learned of the many adventure game design tools that were in development.  The prospect of doing a real adventure game seemed a lot more exciting than continuing my work on NG, so I released an unfinished, yet completely playable version in May.
