The Game
Behind the Scenes I originally planned NextGame 33 to be the next Code Red. Had I finished it, it would have been three times the size it sits at now. The 33 means that the game is eternally 33% complete. The first NG scenario was completed in only about a month. Thinking that the other scenarios would take a month each to complete as well, I made up a small demo of the game in October. However, my computer monitor, which had developed a terrible green tint over time, made it very hard for me to do graphics. My mother soon began using the computer for work, leaving me little time to finish what I had started. A couple of really addictive RPGs (Fallout 2 and Xenogears) set me back as well. Then, in February, I learned of the many adventure game design tools that were in development. The prospect of doing a real adventure game seemed a lot more exciting than continuing my work on NG, so I released an unfinished, yet completely playable version in May.
